As a summary of the current position of the Plan, the second wave of the pandemic caused market volatility at the beginning of quarter 4 2020. Despite a difficult year for investments, most funds have returned positive performance over the 12 months, with markets rebounding strongly following the large falls in quarter 1. The news of a number of vaccines gaining approval and the avoidance of a 'no-deal' Brexit scenario helped markets end 2020 strongly.

By the end of the year, the majority of the Plan’s managed funds either achieved their expected returns or outperformed expectations.
